For years, David Sanders knew vocalist Dunning Shaw.
David was working full time as a sound engineer, and Dunning was a popular entertainer in Central Florida.
Their running joke... "Hey... we should get a band together!"
June 2008: Joe Hand moves to central florida from Nashville, TN, and begins working with David Sanders at church and playing gigs around the Lady Lake area. They put together a duo... Acoustic Men!
David sees Dunning one night, and says... "Hey... there's this guy... Joe... We need to get together and play!"
David called longtime drummer friend Bobby Dibble, and a few songs were chosen to play.
It didn't take long to taste the goodness.
David soon called another area pro, Steve Reel to jump in, and Shepherds Pie was ready to cook.
Shepherds Pie came out of the oven at the 2008 Ocala Chili Cookoff, delighting thousands.
The band is still developing its material, and rehearsing frequently.
Already booked for conventions, weddings, clubs, and private parties, Shepherds Pie is quickly becoming one of central Florida's premier bands.
As for the name...
According to legend, a world famous rocker was preparing for a stadium concert in front of tens of thousands of fans. The caterer had prepared the usual meals for the band before the show, including the rock legend's favorite, Shepherds Pie.
Unfortunately for him, and the tens of thousands waiting, stagehands got to his Shepherds Pie before he did, leaving nothing but an empty pan.
He refused to perform... "I don't play until I get my Shepherds Pie"
A stadium full of anxious fans waited hours while ingredients were purchased and a fresh PIE was prepared for him.
Upon the arrival of the infamous pie, he thanked the crew by telling them exactly where to PUT the new pie...
and then went onstage.
